Day 24: Good Deeds Protect You

Wear The Breastplate Of Righteousness

“Stand therefore . . .
having put on the breastplate of righteousness . . .”
Ephesians 6:14

Your good deeds show others the love of God and express the heart of God!

Many Christians don’t realize the Bible defines righteousness as good deeds, acts of charity and kindness. This is what Jesus is talking about in Matthew 6:33, “...seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness...” We are called to seek God AND ways to be a blessing to others.

During ancient times, soldiers wore solid breastplates over their chests. This protected their vital organs and especially their heart. Your spiritual breastplate represents your good deeds. They guard your heart from being cold, indifferent and unconcerned. If you want to increase the amount of victory in your life, increase your acts of kindness and charity.

In Jewish tradition, this is known as “tikkun olam” — which means repairing a broken world. Your giving, your compassion and your benevolence is how you become a light to the world. It is also how you take a major step forward toward becoming a better you!

Today’s Prayer:
Lord, I praise You for creating me for good works and to do acts of kindness. Thank You that You’ve promised that my acts of righteousness will guard my heart from every attack of the enemy. Fill my heart today with a love for others, and help me take advantage of opportunities to be a blessing.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
