Day 45: Admit Your Mistakes

God Isn’t Breaking You, He’s Making You!
…And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Confess your trespasses to one another,
and pray for one another, that you may be healed.
The effective, fervent prayer of
a righteous man avails much.
James 5:15-16

One of the many powerful teachings that comes up during the spring and fall biblical holidays is forgiveness and repentance. Working out our salvation always includes examining our lives. Taking stock of how far we’ve come and how far we still have to go. (2 Corinthians 13:5)

This includes learning to ask for forgiveness, extending forgiveness and even forgiving ourselves. This principle is so vital it shows up twice in the Lord’s Prayer!

In fact, God says if you don’t show the spirit of forgiveness, He won’t be able to forgive you. That’s pretty extreme, but it’s what Jesus taught His disciples — so it must be very important! (Matthew 6:12-15)

God’s power for a new beginning is released by accepting responsibility for your life. Ignoring what you’ve done or blaming others for everything will just keep you in bondage. (John 8:34)

Keep in mind that God doesn’t use your past failures, sins and mistakes for breaking you. He uses them for making you! Once you let the Son set you free, you’ll have a powerful testimony you can share with others.

So don’t fall into the trap of trying to hide and cover up the negative things from your past, but instead do things God’s way. Confess your faults so that you may be healed. (James 5:16) Admit those bad decisions and shortcomings, confess your sins and go to those you’ve hurt and say you’re sorry.

This is when the God of all mercy and grace can transform you. It will take you to a new level and put you on a pathway to restoration, wholeness and true freedom.

Today’s Prayer:
Father God, thank You for giving me the courage and strength to forgive others. To forgive myself for all the mistakes I’ve made and sins I’ve committed. Right now, I receive Your grace, mercy and forgiveness into my life. I claim peace, restoration, wholeness and spiritual freedom in all my relationships. Especially my relationship with You! I love You and thank You for this. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
