Day 47: Watch Your Words

You Are Made In God’s Image

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.
Proverbs 18:21

If there was only one divine principle I could teach you that will change your life and destiny it is this: There is POWER in your WORDS!

When God breathed life into Adam, our English Bible translations say “man became a living being.” (Genesis 2:7) Ancient biblical wisdom says this phrase can also be translated “and man became a speaking being.”

This gives us a whole new perspective on being created in God’s image. Our likeness, or similarity, to the Lord is through the power of our speech. Our words — and even more specifically, God’s words spoken through us — are how we activate the promises, the power and the purposes of God.

If positive words can produce positive results, then negative words can produce negative results. Ancient wisdom teaches that negative or evil speech is called loshon hora.

Negative words will not only repel the promises of God, they often open the door to the enemy, who will bring the very opposite of what you want.

So instead, put a guard on your mouth and shut the door on the devil—and begin to define your life, your situation and your future the way God does.

“I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14

“I am blessed with all spiritual blessings.” Ephesians 1:3

“I am an overcomer by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony.” Revelation 12:11

Today’s Prayer:
Father God, thank You for making me in Your image and for giving me creative power in my words. I pray today that You help me put a guard on my mouth. Help me to speak more about who I am in Christ and the incredible destiny You have in front of me.
In the name of Jesus. Amen.
